Joseph Aiello has been a leader in the development of large scale infrastructure and real estate projects, strategic and project planning, and government budgeting and finance as a senior executive in government and the private sector. Mr. Aiello is a Partner, Board Member and Investment Committee member at Meridiam Infrastructure Managers a global equity investor, developer and asset manager of Public Private Partnerships. Meridiam’s 25 year funds align the interest of investors, asset life and the public interest.
Prior to Meridiam, Mr. Aiello served as a Senior Executive Council member at AECOM where he undertook a series of Operating and Strategic positions. Prior to Aecom Mr. Aiello held a series of senior positions at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, culminating in the position of Assistant General Manager for Strategic Planning. In that role he oversaw the Budget Office (operating, capital and performance management) as well as Intergovernmental Affairs. Mr. Aiello is also a former Boston Public School Teacher.
Mr. Aiello is an alumnus of the Kennedy School of Government, where he has occasionally guest lectured.
On July 17, 2015, Mr. Aiello was named by Massachusetts Governor Charles Baker as Chairperson of the MBTA’s Fiscal and Management Control Board (FMCB), a pro-bono position. The FMCB has a five year mandate to restore and maintain fiscal stability, improve management, customer service and productivity. In addition to its focus on service improvements and fiscal accountability, the FMCB recently published its 2017 Strategic Plan that included specific 5 and 10 year performance targets for the Authority to attain.Back to speakers
