Ohio State University

Mike joined the University in June 2011 and is responsible for the overall leadership of Ohio State’s Office of Financial Services, including Treasury Management, Risk Management, Debt Management, the Office of the University Bursar, oversight of the university’s $100mm Economic Development Investment Pool and Strategic Initiatives.  He also serves on The Ohio State University Medical Self-Insurance Board of Directors and the Oval Limited Board of Directors.  Some of his accomplishments at The Ohio State University include the issuance of the University Century Bonds, issuance of Subordinated Housing Bonds, Corporate “Shelf-Like” Registration and initial $600mm Financing, completion of a 20 Year Wind Power Purchase Agreement, Huntington Bank Affinity Agreement, the Campus Parking Concession, assisting in the recently signed Nike Affinity Agreement and leading the University’s team on the recently closed $1.165 Comprehensive Energy Management Project. Mike also served as the Interim Chief Investment Officer for the university in 2014, which included oversight of the Office of Investments team.  Under his watch, the University has been recognized by Bond Buyer twice in the last four years, receiving the Innovative Financing of the Year in 2012 for the Campus Parking Concession and The Midwest Deal of the Year in 2016 for the Corporate “Shelf-Like” Registration and Initial $600mm Financing. 

Prior to joining the University, he served as a Director of Energy Investment Banking at KeyBanc Capital Markets. Mike also held previous roles in Corporate Tax at Deloitte & Touche and Strategic Business Valuation at Arthur Andersen. Mike earned his MBA in Finance from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, a BBA in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati and has also completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School. Mike is also a Certified Public Accountant. He is married to Kennia and resides in New Albany, Ohio with his two daughters Gabriela (8) and Anna (7).
